What foods trigger allergies and can you outgrow them?
Q: "What foods trigger allergies and can you outgrow them?"
(Name not supplied)
A: We asked Sara-Jane Murison from Allergy New Zealand, and she replied:
"The most common foods (over 90%) that cause allergies are egg, milk, peanut, soy bean and soy products, tree nuts (eg. brazil, cashew, almond, walnut, etc), wheat, fish and shellfish.
Over 160 foods have been documented to cause allergic reactions and it seems some foods are being more commonly reported, such as sesame seeds and kiwifruit.
Most children outgrow egg, milk, soy and wheat allergies. But peanut, tree nut, fish and shellfish allergies tend to be lifelong."
