What does 'flavoured' mean?

This is a label-reading area where it's easy to get confused.

The key word is 'flavoured'. If a product is called raspberry juice, you can be sure there are some real raspberries involved in it somewhere. In the ingredients list, the manufacturer will tell you how much raspberry is in the product.

If, however, you're buying a raspberry flavoured juice (and the word 'flavoured' can sometimes be in pretty small type) there is probably not any real raspberry in the product, just raspberry flavouring. This applies to any product where you see the word 'flavoured', so get your glasses out and start reading those labels!
