The Wellness Directory concept
The concept originated from frustrated friends and family who were often confused by all of the various alternative health therapies available and their different merits. Questions such as:
- “What’s the difference between Feldenkrais Method and The Alexander Technique?”
- “Is an osteopath or chiropractor more suitable for my condition?”
were often asked. There was a clear need for a one-stop ‘easy to find and follow’ natural health resource. At the same time, a herbalist we knew also noticed the lack of online health communities within NZ and a website which could truly empower the public to enhance lifestyle and make more natural health choices.
Whilst there is a growing awareness of natural treatments, the NZ public seldom recognise the major health benefits between one therapy and another. Moreover, they are often unsure about the credentials and quality of an alternative practitioner. As a result, the majority bypass these integrative health options due to the lack of information available.
The Wellness Directory was hence founded to build awareness of complementary health and educate the public about the true benefits of natural therapies.
