Mr and Mrs Egg Head

- 2 large eggs
- 4 peeled baby carrots
- 1 mushroom
- 12 short chive stalks
- 2 lettuce leaves
- 1 pickled gherkin
- 1 cherry tomato
- 6-8 toothpicks

1 Place eggs in a saucepan of cold water. Cook until the water boils, remove pan from the heat and wait for 10 minutes. Remove hot water then cover with cold water. Remove egg shells.
2 Stand each egg on its broader end on a small plate. Serve a lettuce leaf to one side. Remove mushroom stalk and place mushroom hat on one egg. Cut the top tip off the second egg. Cut chives in half and tie three-quarters together securing with string in centre. Secure chive stalks to the egg top using a toothpick in the centre to form the hair. Top with egg slice for a hat.
3 Pin one-quarter of a cherry tomato onto each egg with toothpicks as the nose. Make 4 gherkin slices for the eyes and pin with toothpicks. Make mouths with the remaining chives. Place carrots in front of the eggs to form legs. Your egg person is sitting down!
- Depending on what veges are in season, you can make the hats out of tomato halves (scoop out the seeds) or 5cm-long capsicum tips.
- Gherkin ends make perfect ears or hands.
- You can draw a moustache with mustard or tomato sauce.
