Phil Ryan, Director
Phil is an experienced magazine publisher who founded the award-winning NetGuide magazine in NZ and Australia. He was named NZ Publisher of the Year at the 2002 Magazine Publishing Association Awards.
Pip Mehrtens, General Manager
Pip has led teams across all areas of business and held a variety of management roles including customer service, operations, business development and general management.
Niki Bezzant, Editor-at-Large
Niki Bezzant is the founding editor of Healthy Food Guide magazine. She has several blogs and is a regular contributor to newspapers, TV and radio. She is the author of two cookbooks – Eating In and The Beach House Cook Book – and editor of several others. Niki is a passionate cook with a lifelong interest in health, who loves to prove that healthy eating is delicious and easy.
Jenny de Montalk, Editor
After a number of years working as a journalist and online content manager for the health sector, Jenny joined the team at Healthy Food Guide, bringing together her passion for good food with her fascination for print and digital media. During her career she has worked across both print and online publications but especially enjoys the challenges and opportunity for innovation generated in the digital realm.
Claire Connell, Sub-editor and Digital Content Creator
Claire comes to us after a decade as a news and digital journalist and sub-editor. Prior to Healthy Food Guide, she worked as a newspaper production manager. She loves cooking and all things food related. Claire has a strong interest in Asian travel and cuisine after living in Thailand for three years.
Rose Carr MSc (Hons), Senior Nutritionist
Rose is a registered nutritionist with a BSc and an MSc (Hons) in Human Nutrition. Prior to retraining she had a successful career in marketing ‘fast-moving consumer goods’ – that’s ‘grocery products’ to the rest of us – before making the change to nutrition. Rose has since worked in a private nutrition clinic, lectured at Massey University, and undertaken project work for the New Zealand Nutrition Foundation.
Claire Turnbull BSc (Hons), Nutritionist
Claire Turnbull is the Healthy Food Guide nutritionist and has a private practice as Mission Nutrition. She also runs nutrition workshops and speaks throughout New Zealand about health and well-being. Claire features regularly on TVNZ Breakfast, TV3 Target, What’s in our Food and Newstalk ZB.
Meredith Baldwin, Art Director
With extensive experience in the magazine industry, Meredith has worked as designer and art director on numerous NZ titles over the years after starting out in design and advertising. A vegetarian with a keen interest in healthy eating and sustainable living, Healthy Life Media is the perfect place to be.
Kate Van den Bergh, Senior Designer
Kate studied a Bachelor of Art and Design at AUT and has worked on various magazine and newspaper titles in NZ since graduating. Her role at Healthy Food Guide combines her passion for all things design and living a healthy lifestyle, and her husband loves all the new recipes she tries at home! Kate enjoys running and indoor netball.
Tasha Pienaar, Advertising Manager (Direct)
After working in the magazine industry in South Africa, Tasha decided to move to the Land of The Long White Cloud and further her career in the industry she fell in love with. Her passion for well-being is reflected in her devotion to fitness. A self-professed ‘food addict’, Tasha is always on the hunt for healthier options of everyday food.
Aimee Fraser, Event Sales Manager
Aimee has been with the Healthy Food Guide team many years now and has a strong background in account management. She is passionate about the food industry and loves to help her clients promote their products via Healthy Life Media platforms. Having been involved with our events for some time, Aimee has witnessed first-hand how exhibiting at Healthy Food Guide LIVE! can positively impact a brand or business.
Gail Lorigan, Marketing and Event Director
Gail has many years’ experience in sales and marketing across various industrues, but primarily in media and the exhibition industry. Gail in passionate about good food and good health, so loves being part of the Healthy Life Media team which combines both. She enjoys spreading the healthy food message via our magazine and events to everyday Kiwis who are looking for ways to be healthier.
Jake Nuualiitia, Digital Content Co-ordinator
A freshman into the world of publishing (and full-time work), Jake joined the team straight out of AUT with a Bachelor in Communication Studies majoring in Digital Media. An avid videographer and musician, Jake lives and breathes digital space, combining his passions and skill set to keep Healthy Food Guide fresh on all digital platforms with the odd recipe video thrown in here and there.
Christine Fairgray, Customer Service Co-ordinator
With over 30 years’ experience in customer service (covering everything from hotels and television to airlines, and many more between!), Christine is armed extremely well for her interface role at Healthy Food Guide. She truly believes it’s the little things that mean a lot when it comes to customer service, and is committed to ensuring your experience with us is as seamless and enjoyable as possible.
Dave Smith, Accountant / Office Manager
A fully qualified chartered accountant, Dave has nearly 20 years’ accountancy experience dealing with NZ businesses. He has a young family, which takes care of any spare time! The office eye candy, Dave is loved by all.
Tracy Hanify, Digital Data Entry Specialist
With fanatical attention to detail and a personal mantra that ‘nearly’ simply isn’t good enough, Tracy is contracted to migrate print content into the digital environment, for dissemination out across all digital platforms. She runs her own proofreading / content precision business, Final Word, and can be contacted for other assignments.
