Nutrition information per teaspoon

We add spices in small amounts to dishes for their big flavour impact. In themselves, they provide very little energy (kilojoules), so the protein, carbs and fat composition is irrelevant.

What is relevant on our nutrition panel, though, is the 430mg sodium per teaspoon in the MasterFoods product. If using this product, we need to be mindful of what else we add to a recipe so we don’t go overboard on sodium. A better idea is to make up a jar of homemade seasoning and get the full flavour of spices without added salt. And if we want to make a dish spicier by adding more seasoning, adding more homemade seasoning means we don’t have to worry about adding extra sodium.

Our Moroccan seasoning is more economical, too, at just 14 cents a teaspoon. For MasterFoods Moroccan Seasoning you’ll pay around 24 cents, or, for the smaller 47g jar, around 37 cents per teaspoon.
